Alaska has some interesting history. We are one of the youngest states in the United States. That means much of our history as a state, and the age of our buildings, are still within our memories. We found one vintage Alaska inn, however, whose presence has been around much longer than Alaska has been a state!
One of the oldest inns in the state is located in Haines, Alaska.
It's called The Inn at Haines, and it was built in 1912! It is located in downtown Haines. It's a gorgeous little bed and breakfast that started out as "The Vogel House," named after a Skagway entrepreneur.
Vogel sold the house when he married and moved to Seattle.
After running through a couple more owner's hands, it was purchase by the newest owner, Leslie Ross. Long time Haines residents, she and her daughter run and maintain the inn!

They offer lovely, homey touches like fresh Alaskan sourdough bread.
Breakfast is always included! You can look forward to coffee, tea, and a European style breakfast. This includes everything from homemade Alaskan jams, soft boiled eggs, and yogurt and granola.

Guests are welcome to store any alcoholic beverages they bring in the guest fridge!
You can expect to find luxurious pillow top beds, 600 count cotton linens, and plush bathrobes. There are also handmade soaps, and the entire inn has been recently renovated.
All four of the rooms do share bathroom facilities.
The bathrooms are all loving appointed, and everything is easily accessible from all of the rooms. The showers are separate from the washrooms, and the bathrooms offer luxurious towels, lots of hot water, and quality shampoos and bath products.
There is a fabulous common living area for the guests to utilize.
The porch is tastefully appointed and comfortable. It's a great place to start your day with a cup of coffee, or enjoy the midnight sun with a glass of wine!
