But what people don’t often consider is LIVING in Alaska. My question is, why not? Alaska is really an underrated state and here are some of the biggest reasons why.

Having the smallest population in the U.S. isn't a bad thing. In Alaska it's easy to get away from it all when the most densely populated city is less than 300,000 people.

The North Slope is mostly Tundra but it contains massive amounts of crude oil, you know... liquid gold.

Alaska is a hot spot for the fishing industry. It's not only a big deal to tourists but it's a huge deal to the locals here. We live, breathe, and eat all that is fishing.

Our state has multiple islands, it's surrounded by oceans, it has various climates, and covers a vast amount of land. It's no wonder Alaska means, "object to which the action of the sea is directed."

From the maritime coastal region stretching from Anchorage all the way down past Ketchikan, to the arctic tundra, I'd say Alaska offers it all.

What other state can boast easy air travel almost anywhere in the state? The bush plane industry is massive in Alaska. We fly where we want, when we want!

According to the 2010 census, Anchorage, the largest city in Alaska, only had 291,826 residents. Imagine living somewhere where you don't have to worry about lines or insane traffic.

The people that live here define the state that we all live in. Adventurous souls who dare to explore the "last frontier," the "land of the midnight sun," or also known as "Seward's icebox."
