One of the best ways to truly experience Alaska is to get up into the mountains. The fastest and easiest way to do that in Girdwood is at the Alyeska Resort’s tram. This is one amazing tram ride in Alaska that allows you to summit to the tops of some of the most gorgeous peaks in the Chugach mountain range!
If you’re headed past Girdwood, Alaska on the Seward Highway, this is a must see for all, locals and tourists alike!
The Alyeska Tramway is a fantastic opportunity to bring you to the top of the ski mountain Alyeska. Starting at the resort below, you board the tram with up to 60 other people!
You’ll then soar into the sky to see some of the most impressive scenery in the area.
In the winter, due to the popularity with skiers and snowboarders, the tram will make it to the top in a short 4 minutes! You will have traveled a span of 3,869 feet.
That’s an amazing observation deck for you to look out at stunning panoramic views. There are seven hanging glaciers nearby, and you can try to spot them all!
In fact, the fine dining restaurant at the top of the mountain is named after these seven glaciers.
Enjoy delicious four diamond culinary delights while you gaze out the window at the peaks across the valley. Or just grab a drink at the bar with the same stunning views, with a martini that is made in heaven!
Or go for more casual fare at the Bore Tide Deli & Bar.
There is a lot to do at the top when you’re finished eating, like the many hiking trails nearby. If it’s winter, strap on your skies or snowboard boots and ride on down the mountain!

The tram operates daily year round, and adults ride for $32.00 each, children 6-12 years of age are $15.00 each, and students 13-18 years of age are $22.00. Children under $5.00 ride for free!
