Due to the lack of trees on this highway, officials do discourage even snowmobile usage. As soon as the snow begins to melt, however, feel free to drive to your heart's content!

The road conditions after the Canadian border and into the Yukon can be a little rough, as it is unpaved. Be sure to check the Milepost or other road highway guides about gas station stops and tire repair, just in case!
When you arrive at the Yukon River, you will need to take the George Black Ferry.

The ferry is free, and runs 24 hours a day! In the winter, many locals just drive their cars or snowmobiles across the ice. When you arrive in Dawson City, make sure to try the Sourtoe Cocktail at the Sourdough Saloon!
