Sitka is a beautiful island town in southeastern Alaska located on located on Baranof Island and the southern half of Chichagof Island on the Alaskan Panhandle. Visit Sitka for a wonderful vacation any time of year. You can get there by air or sea, either on a commercial airline, a small plane or the Alaska Marine Highway System. With all these amazing things to see and do, you’ll have a wonderful time visiting this tiny Alaskan town.
Sitka is a close-knit, small community of about 9000 Alaskans, living in harmony with the sea on this island of temperate rainforest. You'll find so much to do, since this tiny town has a little of everything.
Visit the historic site of the old Baranof Castle up on Castle Hill. If you are strolling around downtown, this is a great place to stop for the cannon, the historical place markers and the views.
Stretch your legs and see the views by heading out on a hike. Starting right from downtown, take the Gavan Trail up into the sky for a bird's eye view of the town.
