You will cross two streams before beginning the only real uphill portion on the trail.

The stream's water level can vary, so check your weather conditions! You may also run across wildlife. Many bears, moose, and eagles have been spotted off the trail.
The hike up to the top of this hill is almost the entire 700 foot elevation gain, and it’s a little steep.

Once you get to the top there are stunning panoramic views! You can see the town of Valdez and the mountains across the bay.
You’ll reach Gold Creek Bridge towards the end of the trail.

The trail right before the bridge splits off. This trail leads to the camping area where there’s a fire pit, restrooms, and good lockers.
You can also hike this beautiful trail in the winter! The views are still spectacular, but it is missing the wildflowers.
