Travel up to the interior to go on a fun and informative walk with reindeer. The Running Reindeer Farm offers you an incredible opportunity to get up and close and personal with these gentle creatures.
This tour is located at a ranch in the Goldstream Valley, a short trip up from Fairbanks.
This farm was started with just two reindeer, Ruby and Moon. Year after year, more reindeer were born, creating a big and loving family herd for you to visit with.

The tour itself is 2.5 hours long, and you will be outside for over an hour.
You'll get to learn all about the reindeer before heading out on a walk together through the nearby birch forest. There are benches along the way, but the reindeer sometimes take a new way through the forest, so dress accordingly!
They are fun and curious, but not trained. If they allow you to touch them, proceed gently and watch for their comfort level. It's quite an experience to pet a reindeer!
In fact, they're willing to take you out just about any day, regardless of weather. They've gone on reindeer walks in -50F weather! If you are uncomfortable with temperatures dropping below -20F, call ahead as far advance as possible to cancel so they can issue a refund for you. But the reindeer are suited for and happy in the coldest of temperatures!
After the walk, you head back to the farm for the perfect wrap up: their famous chocolate chip cookies and a light refreshments.
Finish your conversation about the fascinating reindeer you met and the cool Arctic adaptations these animals have. When you're finished, take a last little tour around the farm before saying goodbye to the reindeer.
This great hike is available to take all year long, but you must call to make reservations ahead of time.
Prices vary depending on the season, but adult tickets are $70.00 all winter through February 15th, and then they bump up to $100.00 per person. Children are $40.00 each all year long.
