As the summer season is coming to a close, it’s the perfect time to grab your favorite sandwich or lunch for an afternoon picnic on a beach! Any of these gorgeous beaches has the perfect spot for you to take a moment and enjoy your meal with killer views.
1. Kincaid Beach, Anchorage, Alaska
This sandy little beach is a hidden gem in Alaska's largest city. Located inside Kincaid Park, a short walk will bring you killer views of the Cook Inlet. Pull up on some grass or the sand with your picnic blanket, and enjoy the clouds floating overhead!
2. Bishop's Beach, Homer, Alaska
Bishop's Beach is a favorite of Homer's locals, and for good reason! With amazing views of the mountains across the Kachemak Bay and a mile of sand to stroll on, there's plenty of room to picnic. You can gaze at miles of beauty in each direction, and if it's chilly, you can even start a campfire on the beach!
3. Kenai Beach, Kenai, Alaska
Kenai Beach is famous for all of the salmon fishing here in the summer. But it also has plenty of beautiful places to sit and rest and enjoy the amazing views across the water. You can spend a relaxing afternoon with the family with your favorite sandwiches while you slow down for a moment from life's hectic pace!
4. White Sands Beach, Kodiak, Alaska
White Sands Beach in Kenai is as gorgeous as the name implies. The white sand here is remnants of volcanic ash that erupted a century ago. It was actually the most powerful eruption of the 20th century, Novarupta, at Katmai! Now we can take the time to appreciate this beautiful beach, although it's only visible at low tide. You can set up your picnic on the dark sand, and watch as the stunning white sands appear!
5. Lowell Point Beach, Seward, Alaska
Situated at the end of the road outside of Seward, this little beach is at the trailhead of Caines Head Trail. A small beach but nonetheless stunning, there's plenty of sand to picnic on, and tide pools to discover at low tide. If it's warm enough you may even want to take a dip!
6. Eagle Beach, Juneau, Alaska
Eagle Beach in Juneau is perfect for the bird lover. During salmon spawning season you'll see dozens hanging around for plenty of fresh fish! The beach is large, with bathrooms and even picnic tables if you want to leave your picnic blanket at home. Take a stroll down the long beach and admire the mountains across the channel after lunch!
7. Sandy Beach, Sitka, Alaska
Sandy Beach is a beautiful little area with a nice spot for swimming if you feel the urge. Plop your picnic blanket on top of the sand at low tide, or some of the larger rocks in the area at high tide. It's a nice Day Use area with restrooms and plenty of parking!
