If you’re looking for a winter adventure, Paws For Adventure in Fairbanks, Alaska, will take you out into the wild Alaskan backcountry like an Iditarod musher! Dog sled into a winter wonderland and get to know the dogs personally. These amazing tours start every year as soon as the snow sticks.
If you've ever loved the idea of travel by other means, dog sledding is an incredible adventure practiced by Alaskans all over the state.
Many kennels offer dog sledding tours, but Paws for Adventure in Fairbanks has a number of amazing tours you can take all winter! In fact, there are eight exciting adventures available to you each season.
This awesome dog mushing company has been in operation since 1998.
They have decades of experience offering some of the most comprehensive and fun dog sledding available in the state of Alaska. They offer all of their tours with dogs they've raised personally from their very own kennel.
The shortest of the tours, the Dog Mushing Day Tour, is a perfect experience for the whole family.
You get to meet the dogs and hop aboard the sled for a fun adventure. The ride is only 5 miles long, and about 30 minutes of action. This makes it a great adventure for your whole family.
If you are looking for a longer adventure, they offer one hour rides that are about 10 miles long.
You can try your hand at riding the runners, or enjoy the view from the basket. Every tour allows plenty of time to interact with the 60 sled dogs on the property.
All of the tours take you through beautiful winter Alaskan scenery.
Your ride may take place on their 300-acre Fairbanks homestead, or any of the number of Chena River Valley Trails nearby. The whole area offers incredible view of the Alaska Range to the south.
You can also try one of their more adventurous tours, dog sledding out in the wilderness for days at a time.
They offer four different overnight tours, where you can travel through remote backcountry like the Copper River Basin. Or choose a tour that heads out on some of the actual Iditarod trail! These overnights are a once in a lifetime way to experience Alaska the way the Iditarod athletes do.
If you can't make the tour this winter, they also offer tours in the summer, too!
Tours range from $75.00 for a five-mile ride, all the way up to a $3,250.00 tour that takes you through the Alaska Range for a six day, five night tour through Alaska's wilderness. Whatever you choose as your adventure, you will have an awesome time watching the snow fly by!
