The Eagle River Nature Center lies at the gateway to Chugach State Park about 40 minutes north of Anchorage. Visit for a full day to soak up all the information in the visitors center and explore. You can also rent one of their cozy, rustic log cabins for a lengthier getaway. Explore the well marked trails and see a glacial valley. When the salmon are running in the summer, see the fish themselves filling the river, and the bears and eagles that come to feast on them.

They offer programs for children and adults as well as tours. There are self-guided tours set up throughout the area as well as naturalist guided nature tours available.
The Albert Loop is a three mile loop that takes you to the bank of the Eagle River.
Perfect for spring and summer months, but gets muddy and impassable in the fall and is often closed from August through October.
The Dew Mound Trail is a moderate 4-6 miles, depending on the route you take. This hike will take you a bit higher into the Chugach mountains for a more epic view.
The Crow Pass Historic Iditarod Trial is the most intense and beautiful hike in the area. This epic 23 miles takes you through the Church Mountain Range to Girdwood.
