If you’re looking for one of the best views of Resurrection Bay you can find, the Mount Marathon Trail is the place to go! Winding all the way up to the tippy top of Mount Marathon, this breathtaking hike will give you panoramic views of Alaska’s prettiest scenery. But the season for hiking this epic climb is almost over, so make sure you visit it before too much snow falls!
There are fewer places more beautiful than Resurrection Bay.
Elite racers race this entire trail in less than an hour, and it’s so popular people come from all over the world to compete and watch it. But it’s also enjoyable at a much slower pace, where you can stop to soak in the views.
It starts at just about sea level and ascends 2,923 feet. It’s very steep in the beginning, but it does level out a bit once you get above the tree line.
Make sure you wear great footwear and bring plenty of layers.
The jeep trail is a far more gradual, easier ascent, and is recommended for casual hikers. This route is probably the one you would like to take when you hike it.
Plan on a couple of hours for your hike depending on what shape you’re in.
Bring some snacks and plenty of water, and stay alert while you’re in Alaska’s backcountry. The views from this epic hike are worth every step of the way!
