Wrangell-St. Elias National Park is America’s largest national park, but it’s not easy to get to! Road access is sparse, and one of the only ways to visit is through the McCarthy Road. The Kennicott Meatza Wagon is one heck of a delicious little food truck way out, literally, in the middle of nowhere. It may be a multi-hour drive to taste some of these delicious items, but it’s definitely worth the drive!
The very cool Meatza Wagon is a food truck out in Kennicott, Alaska.
The only way to get to this amazing little food spot is by small plane, or driving a 60 mile repurposed railroad track. The drive can be a little bumpy down McCarthy Road, and you may need to watch out for railroad spikes and the occasional flooding!
When we say that the Meatza Wagon is at least an hour outside of every major city, we mean it.
It's an eight hour drive from Anchorage, eight hour drive from Fairbanks, and a flight from Juneau! You have to really want to visit here. But it's perfectly situated in some of the most beautiful country in Alaska, inside Wrangell-St. Elias National Park.

Although it may be just a food truck, they take very good care of their customers.
There's a gorgeous little pavilion outside of the food truck, bedecked in flowers and culinary herbs they use in their preparations. And the view is incredible! You are seated just hundreds of feet away from the stunning Kennicott Glacier.
Even though the word "meat" features predominately in their name, their menu is filled with tasty items that accommodate different food preferences! You'll find gluten free and vegetarian options alike.
The menu offers an incredible selection for such a tiny kitchen.
Find favorites like local Copper River Salmon Cakes, Spicy Fish Tacos with Alaskan Rockfish, and of course, the most flavorful carnitas you'll find north of the border! All this in addition to items like their Veggie Rice Bowl and Vegetarian Flatbread Sandwich.
To make your meal even better, if that's possible, you can order one of their fresh cookies baked daily.
You can enjoy all this while taking in the stunning panoramic view in front of you. If you're lucky, you may visit during one of the times they have live music!
You can visit this incredible wagon of meat all summer long!
During the summer, they are open daily from 11:00 a.m. through 7:00p.m. They are located at this interesting Address: LOT 9 KENNICOTT RD, On The Lower Road Next To The School House, Kennicott, Wrangell-St Elias National Park and Preserve, AK 99588.
