Take This Easy Little Hobbit's Trail To A Secret Waterfall
Alaska has some incredible places, and the southeast often looks like it sprung out of a fairy tale! With trails of all lengths and sizes, one that packs such whimsy and beauty is a rare treat! If you’re headed out to Ketchikan, make sure to check out the easy and idyllic Lunch Falls Trail.

The trail is located within the Settlers Cove State Recreation Site. It’s an easy drive from Ketchikan on the Tongass Highway.

The well-groomed hike is an easy .8 mile loop that begins as a wide, gravel path. It quickly transforms into a hobbit’s dream after a bridge over Lunch Falls Creek.

After the bridge is a gorgeous little loop that ends back at the creek. From this point forward, the path is primarily a series of boardwalks and steps.

This is the perfect trail for people of all skills and ages. Children will especially love the trail as it is short and very easy to complete, with plenty to look at.

Bring along your bucket in season and you can expect to find salmonberry, blueberry, and huckleberry bushes. They are right off the trail and easy to spot!

But do bring the bug spray! Long pants and sturdy hiking boots will help with any muddy sections or loose tree limbs.
