Cowboy Mark Marette has been offering rides on the Homer Spit since 1986, allowing Alaskans and visitors alike to experience the wonder of this Bay from the back of a horse.
Trail rides meet at 8:15 AM at the ranch, a 20 minutes drive outside of Homer. Riders must wear sturdy shoes and be prepared for breezy, rainy weather.
As you head through the Alaskan countryside, you are bound to see some of the wildlife of the area: moose, bears, lynx, coyotes, migrating birds, hawks and eagles.
The trail leads through the flat lands to the beach of the Kachemak Bay and the glorious sky opens up before you. The scenery of the area is stunning and you get to ride through it without a care in the world.
