If you’re looking for a wonderful way to spend the afternoon, the Homer Spit in Alaska offers everything from great dining to gorgeous, sandy beaches. This 4.5-mile piece of land juts into Kachemak Bay and is filled with wildlife, the Homer Boat Harbor, and great shopping and dining. It’s a fun spot to spend the day!
Located right on the edge of the Kenai Peninsula is a 4.5-mile piece of land that juts into the Kenai Peninsula.
It’s a welcome retreat for locals and visitors alike, and there are tons of things to do. Whether you hit it in the quiet serenity of winter, or the busy, activity-filled summer, you’ll love visiting "The Spit."
There’s a long bike bath that extends down until the shops and boat harbor begins.
It’s a great stroll to do, and it offers beautiful views of the ocean, beach, and the mountains across the bay. You’ll also pass by some landlocked boats and other fun sights.

Homer’s Boat Harbor is located on the spit, and you can see plenty of boats coming and going.
You’ll see crabbing and fishing boats, water taxis, and even the Alaska State Ferry dock. There’s plenty of boat watching to do, and you can even go on a boat ride yourself if you want to get out on the water.
