In the gorgeous Copper River Valley in Alaska sits the quaint little village of Chitina.
Chitina lies only a few miles from the gigantic Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. In the tiny downtown of Chitina, the Gilpatrick's Hotel Chitina stands at the perfect jumping off point of exploring this great park!
The Copper River Railroad ran from Cordova all the way to Chitina. It was completed in 1911. In fact, many of the antique pieces in the hotel reflect that era!
There's actually fantastic fishing nearby, and not just in the lake. The famous Chitina River, a tributary of Copper River, is half a mile away from the hotel!
You can visit this beautiful hotel all summer, from May 1st through October 15th.
The hotel is open daily from 7 a.m. through 11 p.m. for check-ins, questions, and reservations! The restaurant is open from 7:30 a.m. through 9:30 p.m. from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
