In Alaska, getting fresh produce at a decent price can be quite the struggle. That is, until you realize that there are some incredible farmers markets throughout the last frontier, of course! In addition to fresh produce, these amazing farmers markets provide fun family-friendly settings with a variety of other options including organic meat, handmade jewelry, arts and crafts, wood carvings, local honey and so much more. With the season kicking off in just a couple weeks, be sure to keep these on your radar and visit as frequently as possible.
WOW, this is like no farmers market that you've ever been to before. Located in beautiful downtown Anchorage, the season runs from May 7 - September 4. Enjoy jewelry, fresh produce, live music and so much more every Saturday & Sunday from 10:00am - 6:00pm. Plus, there is no admittance fee, ample parking and lots of family friendly activities.
Offering whole foods for the whole community, the Farmers Fresh Market in the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank Parking Lot has a season that runs from June - September. Market is every Tuesday from 3:00pm - 6:00pm and those that stop by can enjoy fresh and local fruits, vegetables, eggs and so much more.
First market of 2016 will be June 1st! The season runs from June through mid-September and is held every Wednesday from 10:00am – 6:00pm at Wonderland Park. Favorite items here include local grown fruits and veggies, handmade crafts, sauces and spices, jewelry and more.
Located at mile marker 69 of the George Parks Highway (across from the gas station), the Willow Farmers Market has a season that runs from July 3 - September 18. Ever Friday from 2:00pm – 7:00pm, attendees can enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables, local made jewelry, handmade soaps and so much more.
The South Anchorage Farmers Market’s season kicks off on May 7th! The season runs through approximately October 10th and is held every Saturday from 9:00am - 2:00pm at O’Malley Centre Drive. Fresh pastries, organic meats, fresh and local fruits and veggies, pasta, honey and so much more.
The Soldotna Wednesday Market is held at the beautiful Soldotna Creek Park which is located right on the banks of the infamous Kenai River. Located in Anchorage at the Mall at Sears, this market is held every Wednesday from 11:00am - 6:00pm and adds in Saturday from 10:00am - 4:00pm in the summertime.
