Rediscover A Classic Alaskan Adventure This Summer On The Exit Glacier Trail
Alaska has some pretty amazing features, and the Exit Glacier Trail brings you up close and personal to a stunning glacier! One of the only glaciers right off the road system and easily accessible, this cool hike in Seward, Alaska should be on your to do list this summer.

With the potential lack of tourists, the trails will be emptier than normal. This is the perfect chance for you to grab your family and experience the classics you may not have hiked since childhood.

It’s a short hike and only clocks in at 2.2 miles. It’s a loop so you get to see new sights along the trail instead of backtracking.

The trail combines with the Glacier View Loop Trail, which is an accessible trail that is wide and flat. This is about one mile long and completes a smaller loop with a nice glacier view. This smaller loop won’t bring you close to the glacier.

This one is a little more difficult to reach, but not by much. There are nice stone stairs to help you ascend closer to the glacier.

The placards also talk about the history of the area, and how far the toe of the glacier was in years past. This is an informative way for you to really understand how the glaciers are receding.

There are lots of mosquitoes in this area, so cover any extremities that you can. And make sure to bring extra mosquito repellant. The Exit Glacier Nature Center also offers ranger-led guided walks in the summer, if you’d love a guide and more information.

The visitor lot can get crowded during busy hours, so if you can, carpool or look into the shuttle service from Seward. However you get there, you won’t regret spending the day out at this lovely glacier!
