Kennicott Glacier Lodge in Alaska boasts a deck that you gives you the best place to have a drink on a hot day. Just head on out to Wrangell-St. Elias this summer, and enjoy the small pleasures!
Deep in Alaska, in the largest national park in the country, resides a lovely little lodge.
Located in the town of Kennicott, there’s a lodge that offers stunning views of the nearby glacier and mountain range. Aptly named Kennicott Glacier Lodge, this building was built in 1987 to replicate the historic mill buildings nearby.
Perhaps one of its most amazing features is the deck.
This long deck spans the length of the lodge, offering views of Mount Blackburn, Kennicott Glacier, and the town below. It’s cheerily decorated with hanging flowers each summer, and offers cool shade in the heat of the day.

This view is captivating, and you’ll find plenty of people drawn to the comfort of the deck taking a moment to reflect on the sights before them. The deck is a popular place to be, no matter the time of day.
But you can join in for dinner if you make advanced reservations. It’s a fixed menu that changes every day, so be sure to check the menu board to see if you love what’s on offer.
But plenty of passing visitors stop and enjoy the break with a glass of wine or a beer on the deck.
