If you're looking to get out of the bigger cities in Alaska, but still want to be connected to a clean, luxurious experience, the Knik River Lodge is the perfect blend of them both!
Located 50 miles north of Anchorage, it's an easy, lovely drive along an entirely paved road. One you hit Matanuska Valley, the road begins to parallel the stunning Knik River, which is fed from Knik Glacier.
Knik Glacier is over 25 miles long and 5 miles across.
It's located in the Chugach Mountains, and is one of the largest glaciers in south-central Alaska. It's a rather remote glacier, so this is one you'll most likely be visiting by yourself!
