Alaska has a wonderful and rich history, and the old enchanting Alaskan roadhouses dotting the landscape throughout the state are a part of that. One wonderful roadhouse ended up building a larger, newer building above the existing one. Now The Lodge At Black Rapids is a modern, beautiful retreat in the heart of Alaska!
The Lodge at Black Rapids is a beautiful, all season lodge located on the Richardson Highway in Delta Junction.
Open year round, this lodge was finished in 2009, after 10 years of construction. What you see now is a beautiful, 7,300 sq ft lodge with stunning views of the surrounding countryside and beautiful Alaskan luxury on the inside.
The original lodge, called the Black Rapids Roadhouse, is located 100 feet below the bluff, right on the road.
This lodge was built in 1904! It is one of the only original roadhouses in Alaska still standing. The owners of the Lodge at Black Rapids are currently renovating this lodge, and intend to make it a museum open to visitors interested in the history of this area, and also open an outdoor adventure educational program for youth in Alaska.
Winter or summer, there are so many ways to enjoy yourself at this lodge.
The large deck has sweeping views of the surrounding Alaska Range and glaciers nearby. Many of the guests choose to enjoy a glass of wine or a beer out on the deck before dinner, especially in the gorgeous summer season.
There are many different room options available at the lodge.
