We start the trip down in Seward at the delightful little Lighthouse Cafe & Bakery. Grab a strong cup of coffee, a few of your favorite traditional donuts, and gaze out at the water. You’ll be right on the harbor when you visit this shop, and the view doesn’t get any better than this! They’re open Thursdays through Sundays from 7:00 a.m. through 2:00 p.m., and Mondays from 9:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m.

You’ll backtrack a little bit for the next one, but it’s worth it! The Moose Is Loose in Soldotna shouldn’t be missed. This was a classic for 18 years, and is reopening under new ownership late March 2021! If it’s even a fraction as good as the old one, you’ll want to put this at the top of your list. Check in for hours once they’re open and under way!

This tiny shop is easy to find and located right off the Seward Highway. This gem is filled with all the morning pastries you crave, and plenty of hot, strong coffee. It’ll be hard to choose your favorite, so go easy on yourself and choose 3! You’ll thank me later. Visit this fun bakery 8:00 a.m. 7:00 p.m. daily in the winter time, and 7:00 a.m. through 10:00 p.m. daily in the summer.

Golden Donuts is an institution in Anchorage. Located right on Tudor Road, this 24 hour donut joint serves fresh, hot donuts right out of the oven all day and night long. There’s no wrong time to have a donut craving! Try the old fashioned with a nice cup of coffee, and get your day started out right.

Wiki Wiki is new to the donut shop line up, but the reviews are coming in hot! This fabulous place sells malasada donuts like you would find in Hawaii, and they pretty much melt in your mouth. They offer dozens of flavors, and everything is made fresh to order as soon as you place it. It doesn’t get any better than this! They’re opened Tuesdays through Thursdays from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. While you’re there, make sure to grab a poke bowl for the road!

Rounding out our donut trail is the infamous Jason’s Donuts in Fairbanks. They are considered one of the best rated donuts shops in Alaska. You’ll find such dreamy donut flavors like the Unicorn Donut, covered in sparkles, glitter, and pink cookies. Or try the Lucky Charms doughnut, in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. The flavors are endless and creative, and they bake donuts twice a day so you have something fresh as soon as you come through the door.
