As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
If you’re looking for a truly Alaskan adventure, Coldfoot Camp, located in the Arctic Circle, is the perfect place to visit. Made famous by the show “Ice Road Truckers,” this truck stop, cafe, and overnight accommodations are absolutely out of this world. And visiting in the wintertime is an adventure all on its own.
If you’ve ever seen the show “Ice Road Truckers,” you know these mammoth vehicles make their way up the Dalton Highway on their way to the North Slope.
Once you pass through into the Arctic Circle, you’ll come across a very small town called Coldfoot. Coldfoot Camp is the town’s main attraction, and it’s a truck stop, cafe, and camp available to visit.
A winter trip into the Arctic Circle is a bucket list item for many people.
You’ll experience firsthand incredibly low temperatures, crystal clear skies with the northern lights dancing overhead, and even dog sled rides through the stunning landscape that surrounds you. And Coldfoot Camp is a welcome beacon in the darkness, filled with tasty food and warm accommodations.

The Trucker’s Cafe is legendary and serves all types of food.
It’s open all year long, and in the winter, it’s open from 5:00 am - 12:00 am daily. You’ll have a full restaurant menu to order from, and the items change seasonally.
Enjoy a breakfast buffet from 5:00 am - 9:00 am daily or a dinner buffet from 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm. Breakfast buffets in the summertime are $14.95 per person, and dinner buffet is $21.95 per person.
The inn is made up of trailers that used to house oil pipeline workers.
The trailers have been refurbished and brought up to date, but they’re still rustic. Each room has two twin beds and a private bathroom with a shower, and they’re squeaky clean, and cozy to boot.
A night at this epic truck stop starts at $219.00 per night and goes up from there depending on the season.
Especially in the wintertime, under the aurora borealis, and driving through incredibly cold temperatures. It doesn’t get more "Last Frontier" than this!
