If you’re looking for the clearest lake in Alaska, you won’t find anything more beautiful than Lake Clark. The land and lake are so gorgeous that it’s been designated Lake Clark National Park and Preserve. This remote park is a landscape that showcases some of the best features that Alaska has to offer.
Located deep inside the wilderness of Alaska is the breathtaking Lake Clark National Park.
Home to Lake Clark, one of the clearest lakes in Alaska, this beautiful land is absolutely stunning. At 4 million acres large, there’s much to see; but Lake Clark is the crowning jewel.
This lake is completely remote, and can only be accessed by aircraft.
You can fly in on a float plane and land on the lake. Or you can land on a runway nearby on a fixed wing aircraft.
Lake Clark National Park and Preserve is located 120 air miles southwest of Anchorage.
There are regular flights from Anchorage and Homer in the summer time. And it’s the perfect place to go fishing — up to 3.1 million sockeye salmon migrate into Lake Clark each year.
The wildlife in the area is absolutely astounding.
Besides Alaska salmon, you’ll find Grizzly bears, moose, and over 25 species of freshwater fish all reside within the national park. It’s one of the very best spots for wildlife viewing in the state.
If you want to explore more deeply into this area, there are plenty of guided tours available.
You can spend the night backcountry camping, or taking advantage of one of the lodges located on the lake. It’s a truly spectacular place to spend some time exploring.
Lake Clark is most known for its intact ecosystem at the headwaters of the largest sockeye salmon fishery in the world.
This area also preserves the ancestral homelands of the Dena'ina people, and it offers a rich cultural wilderness to be explored by visitors. It is a breathtaking landscape.
This lake deserves a look up close.
