As one of Alaska’s most visited summer destinations, Denali National Park & Preserve certainly knows how to stand out from the crowd. Hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world come here to enjoy immaculate displays of the raw, rugged outdoors and to observe wildlife in their natural element. Oh, and to check out North America’s tallest peak – Denali.
While all that is great, we happen to believe that this particular place inside the park is what everyone should really be getting amped up about. Trust us when we say that there is no place in the world that will touch your soul quite like that of Polychrome Overlook.
This picturesque overlook inside the 6 million acre Denali National Park is particularly special because of its closeness to the entrance. Hop on a bus and in just 45 miles you'll feel like you are (quite literally) on top of the world.
The steep cliffs that you'll experience from Sable Pass at mile 39 to Polychrome Overlook at mile 45 will have you on the edge of your seat.
As the road descends leaving Polychrome and heading towards the Toklat River at mile 53, be prepared to watch immaculate displays of the changing weather patterns as you loose elevation.
