The strikingly beautiful Alaska Botanical Garden is nestled in true unassuming fashion inside Alaska’s largest city of Anchorage. With a mission dedicated to “enhancing the beauty and value of plant material through education, preservation, recreation and research,” you can expect to find the most glorious displays of nature located conveniently within the city limits. Here you'll find northern horticulture and native plants showcased in an area where you can experience the abundance of summer sub-arctic growing seasons.
Pictured here is Actea, said to be a hardy perennial in our northern region.
From roughly May through September of each year, visitors will find a wide variety of flowering plants and shrubs throughout the perennial gardens known as Lile's Garden and the Lower Perennial Garden.
