The last frontier is filled with a plethora of scrumdiddlyumptious restaurants that are guaranteed to satisfy your taste-buds in the most explosive way possible. But these eight restaurants have more to offer than just delicious food. In addition to mouthwatering menu options and friendly customer service, the riverfront views are absolutely wow-worthy. Before you know it, you’ll be spending all night chatting away with good company, all the while soaking in spectacular panoramic beauty right from the comforts of your table.
Please note, Chena’s Alaskan Grill is temporarily closed.
Number one on our list because this place is simply iconic. Alaska's 'Golden Heart City' of Fairbanks struck gold when this incredible business came to the second largest city in the Last Frontier. Visitors can enjoy pub fare alongside succulent wild Alaska seafood and savory steak plates, all of which are served in a dining room with views overlooking the magnificent Chena River. When that Fairbanks weather starts heating up, go outside and enjoy a great meal on the waterfront patio. Fresh air, great food, panoramic views... you simply can't go wrong!
Located at the Kenai Princess Wilderness Lodge in Cooper Landing, this seasonal restaurant offers a wow-worthy view that will blow you away. Watch eagles soaring in the distance as you dine on a mouthwatering burger or a decadent dish of king crab legs. The aerial view overlooking the Kenai River from the bluff is positively awe-inspiring, plus the service is pretty darn incredible as well. A great experience for sure, but you might want to make reservations in advance because visitors truly can't get enough of this place.
Located in Alaska's 'Kenai River City' of Soldotna, Bridge Lounge is an awesome little spot located inside of the Kenai River Lodge. Come enjoy a cocktail with girlfriends, a nice drink after a long days work, or a cold beer after a day of fishing. If you're hungry, they can help you there too! One thing is for sure; the views overlooking the Kenai River will do something wild and crazy to you that'll make you never want to leave.
Here is another seasonal restaurant that is seriously worth waiting all winter long to enjoy for only a handful of months during the peak summer season. Located at the Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge, King Salmon Restaurant offers a luxury dining experience with views overlooking the awe-inspiring Nenana River (tributary of the Tanana Rive) just steps away from your table. We've personally always enjoyed the excellent selection of steaks and seafood here, as well as the delicious dessert options.
A hard working family runs this awesome little outpost, and the service you'll experience here is truly second to none. Not only that, but the food is worthy high raves all on its own. Many even say that the restaurant at Tonsina River Lodge offers "the best Russian food outside of Russia, or at least in Alaska." This is a must-experience if you happen to find yourself in the Copper Center region of the state.
Located at River's Edge Resort, this is not your typical dining experience. For one, the views overlooking the Chena River are absolutely mind-blowing. But the food here is so unassuming that it's almost guaranteed to blow you away. Who would have ever guessed that blueberry cod would be the most perfect combination of sweet, savory AND healthiness? It blew us away and we are sure that your experience here will be magically memorable.
Okay so it's located on Kenai Lake, which bleeds into the Kenai River - so we simply HAD to include it on the list. With a view like that, can you blame up? Enjoy a cozy Alaskan atmosphere with delicious home-style meals and incredible customer service. After a long day of fishing or hiking on The Kenai, Alaska's Playground - this is exactly where you need to fill up on yummy food and cold beverages.
Please note, Anchor River Inn is no longer in business.
There is so much to love on The Kenai, Alaska's Playground and the Anchor River Inn is no exception to that rule. After a long day of fly fishing for steelhead or silver salmon on the Anchor River, come inside this cozy little spot and enjoy a home-cooked meal that tastes just like mama used to make it! The menu is filled with yummy eats from wild Alaska seafood to hearty burgers. They serve breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert so keep them in mind the next time you're traveling through or staying a while.
