The Last Frontier has some pretty wild trails and this waterfront trail in Alaska is no different! During this thrilling hike, you’ll have to race the clock and time your hike to hit the tide tables right. Otherwise, the trail disappears, and you’ll have to spend the night on the peninsula before heading back out again in the morning!
There’s a fantastic hike in Seward, Alaska that takes you right along Resurrection Bay.
This is a beautiful hike to do all year long. The views are breathtaking and the trail is interesting. You’ll probably see wildlife along the trail, including whales, porpoises, and more!
The trail starts in the forest along a well-graded path.
It’s not technically difficult, but you have to cross a three-mile stretch of beach during a +3 tide or lower. This means you have to make sure you plan your hike around the tide tables.
The stretch between Tonsina Point and North Beach is three miles long.
It has to be timed right with the tide tables, so plan ahead accordingly. Bring good sturdy boots that can handle the beach and forest sections easily.
There’s so many great things to see along the trail, including old World War II bunkers.
There’s plenty of places to camp and spend the night, so bring enough food, water, and gear to get you through your hike warm and dry until you head back. There’s plenty of parking at the trailhead, especially if you start out on a weekday.
The next time you’re in Seward, head on out to this gorgeous trail.
