The best part about exploring Alaska is getting out into the backcountry wilderness that makes up almost the entirety of our state. There are so many ways to enjoy the beautiful geography, but going on some ATV adventures in Alaska will get you up close and personal in a way you just can’t experience otherwise! You’ll cruise up mountains, down old logging roads, ford rivers, and more! This is one amazing Alaskan experience you just can go without.
Alaska has very few roads, so in order to get out and explore the entire state, you have to get creative.
You can hike out, rent a plane to fly over some very cool mountains, or get some gear and go kayaking, ice climbing or more. Or, you can find one of the amazing ATV operators in our state, and explore the backcountry in a way few will ever see it!
There are at least 12 different tours that you can find in Alaska.
They center in and around Denali, Glacier View, Ketchikan, and Anchorage. There are tons of different terrains and geography to explore, depending on what you’re interested in.

Ketchikan tours bring you through the immense Tongass National Forest.
You’ll see breathtaking views of the Inside Passage, and you might even get wet if the weather is rainy. But we all know it’s more fun to splash through puddles!
Many of the tours can be suited to your taste. You can have a slower, family tour, or a more outrageous and adventurous tour. The Glacier View tours will take you up mountains, alongside rivers, and give you glimpses of the impressive Matanuska Glacier.
If you want to stay close to Anchorage, there is an easy tour that takes you through the Chugach National Forest, and it’s only 45 minutes away from the city.
There are also canoe and Jeep safari tours to take advantage of as well. There are so many awesome ways to explore the nooks and crannies of our state and catch a glimpse of some of our famous wildlife.
You’ll see some of the longer full and multi-day tours cost closer to $250.00, but they make it worth it. There’s so much to see that’s not available on the road system, and these tours get you right in the thick of it.
