This trail runs through Eagle River Valley, going all the way down to the river.
There is only 479 feet of elevation gain, so this is not a strenuous hike. That means this is a great spot to break out the cross country skis or snowshoes!
In fact, if you're headed during a snowfall or shortly thereafter, the trail may not be packed down yet.
Make sure you have all the right equipment to have a great time on the trail. Good winter hiking boots or cross country skis or snowshoes are important. If there's ice under the fresh snowfall, make sure to grab your ice cleats!
This trail is a big favorite all year long, but in the winter it gets special attention!
On the Winter Solstice, volunteers line the path with ice lanterns. Wander around the gorgeous snow-filled woods by candlelight on Saturday, December 21st.
This hike is a great way to spend a morning or afternoon taking in the brisk air.
The Eagle River Nature Visitor Center's hours in the winter are Friday through Sunday, from 10:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. The trails in the park are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!
