Alaska's Largest Norwegian Festival Is An Experience Like No Other
There are so many amazing festivals in our awesome state, and Alaska’s largest Norwegian festival doesn’t disappoint! With over four days of incredible celebrations, you’ll see why this little town is referred to as Little Norway. Tourists and Alaskans alike travel from all over to this little southeastern town to partake is some Viking fun!

Two local women of Petersburg, Alaska created the festival to celebrate the town's Norwegian heritage. May 17th is the day that Norway signed their constitution, back in 1814.

There's a beautiful blend of both traditional Norwegian style food and Alaska Native dishes. The festival also features our delicious Alaskan seafood!

As this festival always coincides with Alaska's springtime, it's the perfect opportunity to get outside and mingle. With four days of glorious celebrations, there are many things to do and lots of food to taste!

You will see all manners of classic garb. There's also a pageant, and style shows to participate in. The long weekend is filled with all kinds of entertainment, including a race!

There's a large parade that travels through downtown. A huge highlight is the Viking ship accompanied by Vikings of all ages! There's even a heavy artistic influence during the festival, including the ancient art of rosemaling. This is a beautiful tradition of painting wooden furniture with flower motifs!

This year the festival runs from May 16th through May 19th, 2019. It's a free event, where the more who participate the better. Make sure to mark this on your calendars early so you can book flights and hotel rooms before they're all sold out!
