After the WWII draft and continuous tragedies struck, the community endured tough times that they were never able to recover from. The townsite lays abandoned now in the harsh weather.

But, the other reason the name rings out is the terrible murder of many of the residents in a killing spree in the 1980s. This horrible day lives on in the minds of those who were around at the time and those who choose to live there now.

Pilgrim Hot Springs boasts a thermal hot springs which made it possible to house a large mission community from 1918 through the 1920's.
