It’s no secret that Alabama is a hiker’s paradise. While some trails are easy to hike, others are much more difficult. According to many hikers, one of Alabama’s most difficult hiking trails is the Walls of Jericho Trail. Even though this secluded trail is difficult to hike, the waterfall waiting at the end makes the challenge well worth it. The Walls of Jericho, which is located in Jackson County and covers nearly 13,000 acres, is best known as the "Grand Canyon of the South." Davy Crockett actually used to hunt here.

Without a doubt, the most rewarding part of this hike is what's waiting at the end - a relaxing waterfall. Once you see this waterfall up close, you'll realize the challenging hike was well worth it.

Directions to the Walls of Jericho Trail: After taking US 72 West for 4.8 miles, you'll take a right onto AL-79. You'll then continue driving north for approximately 25 miles. After reaching the horseback riding trailhead's parking lot, you'll drive north for one more mile on AL-79. Once you reach the hiking trailhead's parking lot, you've reached your destination.
