Even though the fall season hasn’t officially arrived, we can’t help but wonder what the winter season will bring. Will it bring freezing cold temperatures? Will it bring snow? Will it bring lots of rain? To get an idea of what the 2018-2019 winter season will bring, we’ve collected predictions from the Old Farmer’s Almanac, which specializes in long range weather forecasts. Listed below are some of the forecasts for America’s Deep South region for this upcoming winter season.
The Deep South region includes all, or part of, the following eight states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, and Tennessee.
According to the Old Farmer's Almanac, this upcoming winter season will be warmer than normal, with the coldest periods taking place in late November, the first half of December, and the early part of January and February.
Because the weather is supposed to be warmer than normal this winter season, there's no better time to explore Alabama's great outdoors.
If the Deep South does receive snow this winter season, it'll likely happen across the north part of the region from mid to late December.
Since Alabama is located in the south part of the region, it's not very likely we'll experience a white Christmas this year.
In the north part of the region, rainfall is expected to be normal, whereas in the south part of the region, it's expected to be near normal.
Be sure to keep your umbrellas handy following the winter season. According to the Old Farmer's Almanac, the months of April and May are expected to be rainier than normal across the state.
Here in Alabama, we're lucky to experience all four seasons. Whether the predictions are right or wrong, there's no denying that Alabama is the perfect place to call home - even during winter.
