There’s no better way to experience some of Alabama’s most unique places than by taking a road trip. Listed below is a mapped road trip route that includes a variety of unique places. This road trip begins and ends at the Frank Lloyd Wright Rosenbaum House in Florence, but you may begin anywhere you wish.
The Rosenbaum House, which was built in 1939, is the only building in Alabama that was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. It’s also the only Frank Lloyd Wright house in the Southeast that’s open for public tours. You can read all about this historic piece of architecture here.

The Coon Dog Cemetery was established in 1937 and is the only cemetery of its kind in the world. Located off the beaten path, this unique cemetery is the burial site for more than 185 coon dogs from all across the United States. The Alabama Booksmith is Alabama's most unique bookstore. What makes it so unique is that every book sold is a signed copy. However, don’t expect to be charged extra for the author's signature. Orr Park is one of Alabama's most unique parks. Its main feature is the Tinglewood Trail, which showcases whimsical tree carvings by local artist Tim Tingle. Animals, storybook characters and whimsical faces are just a few examples of the tree carvings you'll encounter while strolling the Tinglewood Trail.
