Covering 58 acres of land, this scenic nature preserve is one of the most underrated nature preserves in the state. It's also a great place for a summer hike, picnic, etc.

Since opening in 2020, the Dallas W. Fanning Nature Preserve has welcomed numerous people from all across the North Alabama region and beyond. The primary reason why is because of its nature trails.

While hiking through the preserve, you'll notice signed trails, which will help you navigate through the woods. These trails are quite easy, which makes them accessible for just about anyone.

If you decide to hike the trails at the Dallas W. Fanning Nature Preserve, be sure to bring your canine companion(s) along for the fun. They're allowed on the trails as long as they're leashed.

Also while hiking the trails, you'll notice a variety of wildflowers. These are especially beautiful during spring and summer months.

A popular spot you'll encounter is the preserve's two-acre Green Space. This open area features shade trees, benches, and is a great place to sit and relax.

And finally, during your visit, you'll notice that there aren't any lights. The reason behind this decision is to protect wildlife. It was also planned this way so visitors can enjoy stargazing and aren't distracted by the brightness of the lights.
