Alabama is filled with lots of unique attractions. While many of them are very well known, several others aren’t. Old Alabama Town is one of the many attractions that quite a few people still don’t know about. And if they do, they might not realize how unique it truly is. Old Alabama Town is a unique village in Montgomery, Alabama that shows how people from the central region of the state lived and worked to provide for their families during the 19th century.
Stretching along six blocks, this one-of-a-kind attraction features more than 50 fully-restored structures that were built in the late 1800s and early 1900s.
One of these structures is North Hull Street Grocery, which was built circa 1892. Once you step inside this historic grocery store, you'll be taken back in time by its interior.
Old Alabama Town also features Adams Chapel School, which was built circa 1895. Everything from the desks to the books to the simple chalk board on the wall will remind you of student life during this time in Alabama.
Old Alabama Town also features a few historic homes, which show how people lived much simpler lives back then.
During your visit at Old Alabama Town, you'll encounter a variety of historic items such as carriages, machinery, furnishings, and so much more. For anyone who loves antiques, this is the place to be!
You'll also learn about different things that happened in Alabama during the late 1800s to early 1900s, including cotton production.
Without a doubt, the most popular attraction at Old Alabama Town is Lucas Tavern. Built circa 1818, it's the oldest remaining building in Montgomery County. It's also believed to be haunted.
