You never know what you’ll stumble upon while driving through Alabama. For example, there are many types of structures you wouldn’t expect to see here, including the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament. People come from all over the world to visit the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament, and it’s easy to understand why.
The Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament is located in Hanceville, Alabama at 3222 County Road 548. From the artwork to the architecture, it's one of Alabama's most beautiful places.
The Shrine, which is a Roman Catholic Latin Rite shrine that's situated on 400 acres, is modeled after the great Italian churches of the 13th century.
Regarding the Shrine's interior, it doesn't get more beautiful. From its marble floors and high-vaulted ceilings, to its stained glass windows and ornamental details, the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament is a lovely piece of architecture that everyone should visit.
A variety of unique structures make up the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament, including a replica of the Lourdes Grotto. This cave-like structure is located alongside the Mulberry Fork of the Black Warrior River.
The Shrine's piazza, which is reminiscent to the ones found in Europe, can hold up to 30,000 people. This specific area is used for a variety of outdoor processions and other events.
One of the Shrine's most popular structures is Castle San Miguel. It's located directly opposite of the Temple and includes the Gift Shop of El Niño, the Pilgrimage offices, catered dining facilities and more.
This holiday season, you'll most definitely want to visit the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament. It'll be offering *free* horse-drawn wagon rides. Complimentary coffee and hot chocolate will be provided. You can view the wagon ride schedule here .
