Here in Alabama, fried green tomatoes are more than just a movie. It's a delicious side dish that's loved by many Southerners. The best place in Alabama to try this Southern staple is Irondale Cafe in Irondale. Not only does this cafe serve delicious friend green tomatoes, but it was also the inspiration for the Whistle Stop Cafe in Fannie Flagg's novel "Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe," which was later developed into a hit movie. Hands down, Alabama serves the most mouthwatering barbecue! The best place to try this Southern staple is Big Bob Gibson Bar-B-Q in Decatur. After all, they were recently named "Grand Champion" for the fifth time at the 2017 World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest in Memphis, Tennessee.
