Even though we Alabamians are pretty easygoing, there are several things we just won’t do—no matter what! From giving up fried chicken to taking our beautiful scenery for granted, here are 11 things that no true, self-respecting Alabamian would ever do:
1. Miss the annual Iron Bowl.
Whether you watch it in person or from the comfort of your couch, this yearly football event is a must for all self-respecting Alabamians.
2. Order unsweetened tea.
Whenever you order tea, only sweet tea will do. And if you make your own, the more sugar the better!
3. Complain about being bored.
With so many great things to see and do in Alabama, it's impossible to be bored. Every weekend, there's something going on somewhere.
4. Ignore tornado sirens.
Even though we tend to go outside whenever we hear tornado sirens, we still take them very seriously.
5. Take Alabama's beautiful scenery for granted.
From gorgeous waterfalls and majestic mountains, to flowing rivers and glistening lakes, Alabama’s natural scenic beauty doesn’t disappoint.
6. Give up fried chicken.
Nope! Not happening!
7. Use the words "soda" or "pop."
Here in Alabama, everything is a "coke." Plain and simple!
8. Drive under the speed limit.
Whether or not you've gotten a ticket, you're guilty of speeding. We all are! And with speed limits like this, it's not surprising.
9. Spend their summer vacation anywhere other than the beach.
With Alabama's beautiful Gulf Coast only a short drive away, why travel anywhere else?
10. Eat barbecue out of state.
Why would you? Alabama serves the best barbecue around. Hands down!
11. Forget where they came from.
A true, self-respecting Alabamian will never forget their roots.
