This Secluded Beach Area In Alabama Will Take You A Million Miles Away From It All

Here in Alabama, you don’t have to travel far to experience beautiful beaches. As a matter of fact, Alabama’s Gulf Coast beaches are some of the finest beaches in the world. When it comes to tourism, some of these beaches outshine the rest. However, many of Alabama’s beaches are much more secluded, meaning you can enjoy a relaxing day without having to fight the crowds. A beach area in particular that’s somewhat secluded and offers relaxation is the sandy shoreline that surrounds the Fort Morgan peninsula.
The Fort Morgan peninsula offers incredible beaches that are perfect if you’re wanting to escape the crowds, but still looking to have a wonderful beach experience. The beach area that surrounds the Fort Morgan peninsula is available to the public. However, reaching this area can be somewhat difficult, unless of course you’re staying somewhere that provides access. If this doesn’t apply to you, you’ll have to enter through one of the following two units at the Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge: Perdue Unit or Fort Morgan Unit. For the Perdue Unit, you’ll turn left on Mobile Street and drive for a mile and a half past the visitor center. You’ll then follow the road until you see the beach. For the Fort Morgan Unit, you’ll drive down the unnamed beach access road that’s located just outside the Fort Morgan State Historic Site. You’ll then reach the beach.
Speaking of the Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge and Fort Morgan State Historic Site, you’ll definitely want to visit these two Alabama attractions while you’re close by. Fort Morgan (below), located at the mouth of Mobile Bay, is a historic masonry star fort where several navy battles were fought. If you’re a history buff, you’ll love this historic site.
The Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge (below) is nearly 7,000 acres and is one of the largest undeveloped pieces of land on Alabama’s Gulf Coast. While at this beautiful refuge, there’s a great chance you’ll see an array of migratory birds, sea turtles and the endangered Alabama beach mouse as you’re strolling along one of the refuge’s five amazing trails.
