Several cities make up the great state of Alabama. While some are great to live in or visit, sadly, others aren’t. Recently, Safewise published Alabama’s 20 Safest Cities of 2019. For a complete list, you can follow this link. In the meantime, the 10 safest cities are listed below.
At the top of the list is Satsuma, which has a population of 6,198. Its Violent Crime Rate (per 1,000) is 0.32, and its Property Crime Rate (per 1,000) is 8.07.
Headland, with a population of 4,777, places third on the list. Its Violent Crime Rate (per 1,000) is 0.63, and its Property Crime Rate (per 1,000) is 16.33.
Coming in fourth is Vestavia Hills, which is a suburb of Birmingham that has a population of 34,781. It has a Violent Crime Rate (per 1,000) of 0.69 and a Property Crime Rate (per 1,000) of 12.22.
Helena, another suburb of Birmingham, has a population of 18,965 and places fifth on the list. Its Violent Crime Rate (per 1,000) is 0.96, and its Property Crime Rate (per 1,000) is 11.42.
Hoover, which places sixth, is another suburb of Birmingham and the list's largest city with a population of 85,634. It has a Violent Crime Rate (per 1,000) of 0.96 and a Property Crime Rate (per 1,000) of 11.42.
Albertville, which is known as the "Fire Hydrant Capital of the World," places seventh on the list and has a population of 21,588. It's Violent Crime Rate (per 1,000) is 1.02, and its Property Crime Rate (per 1,000) is 30.02.
Pleasant Grove, which is located in Jefferson County, places eighth on the list and has a population of 10,191. It has a Violent Crime Rate (per 1,000) of 1.08 and a Property Crime Rate (per 1,000) of 16.09.
Daphne is located on Alabama's beautiful Gulf Coast and has a population of 26,669. Its Violent Crime Rate (per 1,000) is 1.27, and its Property Crime Rate (per 1,000) is 20.85.
Margaret places tenth and has a population of 4,668, which makes it the list's smallest city. It has a Violent Crime Rate (per 1,000) of 1.29 and a Property Crime Rate (per 1,000) of 6.86.
As you can see, property crime is Alabama’s biggest safety concern.
