Many rural towns help make up the great state of Alabama. One of the best ways to explore some of these towns is via a road trip. Listed below is a mapped road trip route that includes some of Alabama’s best rural towns. Because the estimated drive time is 6 hours, this road trip could easily be taken in one day. It all depends on how long you wish to stay in each town.

1. Woodville
Your road trip will begin in Woodville. Woodville is a small town in Jackson County, Alabama. Its main attraction is Cathedral Caverns, which is also one of the state's top cave destinations. People come from all over the world to visit this cave, which is famous for having has one of the world's largest entrances.

2. Mentone
Following a short drive, you'll arrive in Mentone. Mentone, which has less than 500 residents, is located atop of Lookout Mountain in DeKalb County, Alabama. It's best known for its breathtaking views and its beautiful waterfall - DeSoto Falls.

3. Fruithurst
