Along Alabama’s beautiful Gulf Coast, you’ll stumble upon many different types of places. One of these places, which is located between Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, is Barber Marina—a world-class marina built by billionaire George Barber.
Barber Marina is located in Elberta, Alabama at 26986 Fish Trap Road.
In 2004, after completing the construction of Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama, Mr. Barber began building his famous marina.
Barber Marina offers a variety of amenities, including gasoline and high speed diesel pumps, a ship store, showers, laundry facilities, a full-service boatyard, etc.
While walking the grounds of Barber Marina, several quirky sculptures will most certainly grab your attention. The first of these sculptures is known as the "Dinosaurs in the Woods."
This group of sculptures includes four realistic dinosaurs strolling through the marina's nearby woods.
Of these four dinosaurs, there's a Brontosaurus, a T. Rex, a Stegosaurus and a Triceratops.
Each dinosaur was created by Mark Cline and cost a small fortune to build.
There's also a pair of knights hiding in the woods.
One of the most interesting sculptures near Barber Marina is Bamahenge, a full-scale fiberglass Stonehenge.
Like Stonehenge, Bamahenge measures 21 ft tall and 104 ft across. It's also positioned the exact same way.
The next sculpture Mr. Barber added to his collection was his "Lady in the Lake." Only her head and knees are visible. This sculpture isn't always in the water, so it's best to call ahead if you're wanting to see it in person.
