Monroeville, located in Monroe County, Alabama, has a population of around 6,500 residents and was incorporated in 1899. It's best known as the "Literary Capital of Alabama" because it's the hometown of famous writers Harper Lee and Truman Capote, in addition to several others.
The Old Courthouse Museum is situated on the courthouse square. This courthouse was used as the setting in Harper Lee's famous novel "To Kill a Mockingbird," and it's the city's main attraction.
