The Kiwanis Vulcan Trail, which is most commonly known as the Vulcan Trail, is a paved trail in Birmingham, Alabama's Lane Park. It's also part of the Red Rock Trail System.
This trail is a 4-mile, out-and-back trail that'll take you through lots of beautiful natural scenery and is accessible all year long.
And because it has an easy rating of difficulty, Alabama's Vulcan Trail is also great for all skill levels. Families enjoy walking, running, and even biking this trail.
The Vulcan Trail is located atop of Red Mountain and follows the bed of the old Birmingham Mineral Railroad.
While on Alabama's Vulcan Trail, you'll experience some pretty incredible views of the Birmingham skyline, so don't forget to bring your camera along.
The Vulcan Trail will ultimately end at Vulcan, the world’s largest cast iron statue. This statue is also one of the nation's most memorable works of civic art. Once you reach Vulcan, you'll be in complete awe of it. This statue truly is something everyone should experience up close and in person.
