The Historic Waysider Restaurant, which is best known as The Waysider, is a hidden gem that's located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Since 1951, it's been serving delicious Southern dishes in a warm and inviting atmosphere. After entering the restaurant, you can't help but notice the abundance of Crimson Tide decor. From framed art to autographed photos, there's a lot of football memorabilia on display.
When it comes to food, The Waysider offers breakfast and brunch. For breakfast, one of its most popular dishes is hot cakes, aka pancakes. Even though the pancakes are incredible on their own, you can also order them with a side of bacon, sausage, or sugar cured ham. For an additional cost, they can also be topped with blueberries, pecans, or chocolate chips.
For something extra fun, you can request your pancake to be shaped like an elephant that represents Big Al. This has become a popular request among children and adults alike.
