Nothing beats a great road trip. However, we can all agree that the worst part of any road trip is emptying our wallet to fill up our vehicle. And with gas prices continuously increasing across the state, less road trips are being taken. There’s no reason why we should limit ourselves when it comes to road trips. After all, there are several places throughout Alabama that we can visit and only have to use a single tank of gas.
One tank of gas averages about 300 miles for most vehicles. We’ve mapped out a road trip that will take place in central Alabama, beginning and ending in Tuscaloosa. The length of this road trip is 275 miles and will last about 5 hours and 20 minutes, minus the time spent at each stop.
Listed below is our mapped out road trip. You can view the actual Google map here. Now, let’s get started on our road trip:
After our trip to the zoo, we're going to head on over to Hoover and grab a quick lunch at Tip Top Grill. Their burgers are fantastic, and the view is incredible!
After finishing lunch, we're going to take a drive to Montevallo and stroll down the Tinglewood Trail at Orr Park. The tree carvings you'll see along the way are amazing.
Now that we've seen everything there is to see at Orr Park, we're going to take a drive to Clanton and visit its famous Peach Park for some delicious peach ice cream. What a great way to beat the summer heat!

6. Gaineswood - 805 S Cedar Ave, Demopolis, AL 36732
After finishing our ice cream, we're going to take a drive to Demopolis for a tour of Gaineswood, a historic plantation home. If you're a fan of Alabama history, this visit will be well worth it.
7. The Avenue Pub - 405 23rd Ave, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401
As our road trip comes to an end, we're going to head back to Tuscaloosa to have a delicious dinner before returning home. The place of choice is The Avenue Pub. From Burgers to fish, and salads to nachos, this restaurant has a little something for everyone.
