1. FLORENCE
Downtown Florence is located in North Alabama and is, without a doubt, the ultimate shopping destination. A couple of popular stores include Billy Reid and JAR & Company. "First Fridays" is held in downtown Florence on the first Friday evening of each month (Mar-Dec). Eufaula, located in southeast Alabama, is known for its charming antebellum homes. It's also one of the most picturesque and historic towns in the South. Eufaula's historic downtown area is filled with many unique shops that attract visitors from all over.
3. SELMA
Selma is located in Dallas County, on the banks of the Alabama River. This historic city is best known for the "Selma to Montgomery Marches," which took place on the Edmund Pettus Bridge. Selma's downtown area includes a few shops, the public library and the historic St. James Hotel.
4. FAIRHOPE
Fairhope is a charming town that's situated on the eastern shore of Mobile Bay. Its downtown area features art galleries, restaurants and more than 80 unique shops.
5. OPELIKA
Opelika's motto is "Rich in Heritage with a Vision for the Future." Its downtown area includes several charming boutiques and restaurants. One of their most popular events is "First Fridays," which is held on the first Friday evening of every month. During this event, shops stay open late and guests get to enjoy live music.

Anniston, The Model City of the South, is located in Calhoun County. Its charming downtown area features several unique shops, a farmers market and a federal building made of marble.
7. MONROEVILLE
Monroeville is known as the "Literary Capital of Alabama" because it's where Truman Capote and Harper Lee grew up, in addition to several other well-known writers. Monroeville's historic downtown area features many unique shops and restaurants, but its main feature is the Old Monroe County Courthouse. This historic courthouse was the model for Harper Lee's courtroom settings in her novel To Kill a Mockingbird. Today, this courtroom is one of the most recognized in the world because of the novel's film adaptation.
