There are many scenic drives in Alabama, including Lookout Mountain Parkway. Over the years, this stretch of roadway has become a favorite drive among many people. It stretches across three states for 93 miles, 50 miles being in Alabama. You can access it via exit #188 off Interstate 59. You’ll then follow Highway 211 to Noccalula Falls Park in Gadsden. From there you’ll take a left onto Tabor Road in front of the park. You’ll then continue your drive across Lookout Mountain. There are quite a few stops you can make along Alabama’s Lookout Mountain Parkway, including the eight we’ve listed below.
1. Noccalula Falls Park - Gadsden

As mentioned above, Lookout Mountain Parkway begins in Gadsden, Alabama at Noccalula Falls Park. Noccalula Falls Park is home to Noccalula Falls, which happens to be one of the state's most-visited natural wonders. This 90-foot waterfall can also be walked behind, which also makes it one of the most unique waterfalls.
As you continue up the parkway, you'll arrive in Fort Payne. Fort Payne is the county seat of DeKalb County, Alabama. There are a variety of places to visit within the heart of this city, including museums, antique shops, and more.

3. Little River Canyon National Preserve - Fort Payne

While in Fort Payne, you'll want to travel off the beaten path and explore Little River Canyon National Preserve. This scenic preserve, which covers 15,288 acres, is one of the Southeast's most beautiful outdoor areas. There are plenty of trails to hike and overlooks to experience incredible views.
Before leaving Little River Canyon National Preserve, don't forget to visit Little River Falls. This waterfall is one of the preserve's most popular features, and it's also one of the state's most beautiful natural wonders.
After leaving Little River Canyon National Preserve, you'll want to stop by DeSoto State Park, which is located about eight miles outside of Fort Payne. This state park covers around 3,500 acres and consists of rivers, waterfalls, forests, and lots of mountain terrain. Like Little River Canyon National Preserve, DeSoto State Park also offers great hiking trails and incredible overlook views. It's an absolute must-visit for anyone who loves the great outdoors!
Mentone, which has less than 500 residents, is one of Alabama's most charming towns. Situated atop of Lookout Mountain, it offers a variety of shops, restaurants, etc. Over the years, this mountaintop town has even become one of Alabama's top vacation destinations for a relaxing getaway.
While in Mentone, don't forget to stop and visit DeSoto Falls. Even though this waterfall is part of DeSoto State Park, it's actually located about six miles outside of the park, near Mentone. DeSoto Falls has a drop of 104 feet and is one of the Southeast's most recognizable waterfalls.
8. Wildflower Cafe - Mentone

Before leaving Mentone, don't forget to grab a bite to eat at Wildflower Cafe. Wildflower Cafe is a whimsical restaurant that serves everything from sandwiches to pastas to their "Famous Tomato Pie." This one-of-a-kind restaurant also sells a variety of items such as art, jewelry, clothing, etc.
